That can’t be good,  statistics approximate that FileFront currently serves over 1.5 million files to the tune of 48 TB of data.  FileFront is owned and operated by Ziff Davis Media (the same Ziff Davis Media that just recently sold the 1UP Network to UGO Entertainment and discontinued printed editions of its PCMag magazines).

Around the World in Gaming – Friday Round Up

Time for yet another Around the World in Gaming Post, so here’s what’s going on in the realm of gaming:

Lord of the Rings: Conquest

Lord of the Rings returns to Warner Bros.

After seven years of Lord of the Rings games from EA, Warner Bros. will be reclaiming the video game rights to the series.  We’re not quite sure what this means for the Lord of the Rings game series yet, but what we do know is that EA wasn’t doing the series any favors with the latest Lord of the Rings: Conquest.

Resident Evil 5

The Resident Evil Saga Returns

Today is the big day for Capcom, with Resident Evil 5 hitting shelves, and the Resident Evil series alive and kicking.  Not only that, but the company has also announced that they are already working on new dowloadable content for the game, in the form of Versus Mode.  This new gameplay mode includes 2 new game types, Slayer’s Rule and Survivor’s Rule, for what sounds to be some interesting multiplayer action.  The Resident Evil 5 Versus Mode does not have a final release date as of yet, and will set you back 400 Microsoft Points ($5.00), or $4.99 on the Playstation Network.

First Official Trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine is Out

You’ve probably already heard of the new X-Men Origins: Wolverine Movie set for a May 1 release date, but there will also be a video game that follows the storyline as well.  The game features brutal action scenes, and follows Wolverine’s story, including his escape from the Weapon X Facility to the jungles of Africa.  X-Men Origins: Wolverine is being developed by Activision for the Xbox 360, with a summer release date expected.

Fable III, IV, V?

Rumors are flying in what seems to be confirmation that Fable III is currently under development, with more games to come.  The rumors started when BBC presenter Jonathan Ross let slip on his Twitter profile that he had been approached to do voicework for Fable 3.

Goodnight all. Must go to bed. Got asked to do voice in Fable 3 tonight. Subarashi. Oyasuminasia. Woss out.

Peter Molyneux stated last July that Lionhead Studios had plans for up to 3 future Fable games, and now it appears that we have our first confirmation of their efforts.

Around the World in Gaming – Friday Round Up

It’s about time we had another Friday round up, here’s what’s happening in the gaming world:

Halo Wars

Bungie Studios releases Halo Wars Demo with the full game being released in the US on March 3rd.  Halo Wars is unique in the RTS field as the developers have tried to simplify things to the point where all you really need to concentrate on is the battle at hand.  Unlike other RTS games (eg Starcraft, Age of Empires, etc.), there will be no resource gathering, complicated technology trees, or heavy base/army-building micro management.  You can and get a review of the game over on IGN.

Empire Total War

Sega has released a demo of the highly anticipated Empire: Total War () expansion of their Total War series.  Empire: Total War features a new technology tree system, more sophisticated AI, and real-time naval battles.

Grand Theft Auto IV: Lost & Damned

Rockstar Games has just upped the ante with new downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto IV on the Xbox 360 titled The Lost & Damned.  But this new addition doesn’t just contain a few extra missions and vehicles, The Lost & Damned is like a whole ‘nother game, including new content, stories, characters, and a whole lot more.  You can for Grand Theft Auto IV over on Team Xbox, or download the new expansion from Xbox Live.

Lego Universe

Lego Universe (the new Lego MMO game being developed) will not be coming out this year as planned.  The Lego Group has announced that they are still committed to developing the game in partnership with Netdevil, but that they don’t want to lose focus on their core market.  You can over on the Kotaku site.

That just about wraps up this week’s Friday Round Up, don’t forget to check out our new World of Warcraft Rumors () site for the latest expansion rumors, class changes, and patch content.

Emerald Dream the next World of Warcraft Expansion?

Rumors are flying, and it appears there is a very good chance the next World of Warcraft Expansion could be the Emerald Dream.

In a recent lore of Chris Metzen and Micky Nielson at New York Comic Con, a new World of Warcraft Lore novel has been confirmed, by Richard A. Knaak, Worlf of Warcraft: Stormrage

, due in 2010.  The novel details the story of Malfurion Stormrage in his journey outside of Azeroth, and will also explain the Nightmare, and what’s going on within the Emerald Dream.

So Wrath of the Lich King had its novel, “Night of the Dragon,” and now it appears that the Emerald Dream with have its novel, “Stormrage,” coming 2010.

In the meantime, here is an interesting video of a possible “Emerald Dream” zone that players have been able to find in a hidden area of the live World of Warcraft Servers:
